Ministry Philosophy.
Why we do what we do, and the posture we bring into the room.
“We steward atmospheres for the willing to come fully alive in God’s presence for the renewal of our cities.”
When do we win?
When the willing experience community, connection, and the presence of the Lord, we experience success. When the willing experience these life-changing catalysts and don’t even notice us, we win.
We win not by avoiding being a distraction but by directing to the things that change lives. Which is not our performance, our lighting, our mixes, our camera angles, or our timing. We win because the willing experience community, connection, and the Lord’s presence. When we walk in excellence, the presence of the Lord and His work is what’s seen and experienced. Not us.
Excellence and stewardship in these areas allow the willing to be focused on their experience with the Lord, not impressed by production.
Five postures for every weekend.
The full version of the prayer card.
- Pause and pray
Before each weekend, take 3–5 minutes to pray silently, asking God to reveal and remove distractions. “Is there anything in my heart that could distract me from Your presence?” Take that time to surrender any burdens to Him.
- Seek God’s guidance
Invite the Holy Spirit to direct your actions, whether operating the dLive soundboard, manning a camera, or running ProPresenter. Every technical act points the willing to God’s presence.
- Trust in God’s rest
Embrace the promise of Exodus 33:14, releasing stress or performance pressure. Trust that God’s presence sustains you, allowing you to serve with joy and peace, especially in demanding moments. When you feel conflicting emotions, declare within your soul, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, praise his holy name!” You have to direct your heart in its posture. Psalm 63:1 can help: “O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You, my body longs for You and my soul thirsts for you…” If you’re not experiencing these words in your soul, demand your soul to rise up. Direct your soul in the posture it should have.
- Pursue excellence
Inspired by Colossians 3:22–25, perform your role with diligence, ensuring high-quality audio, clear visuals, and seamless transitions. Give it your all, as “being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work.” Your excellence equips the willing without drawing attention to anything other than God’s presence, community, or connection.
- Foster team unity
Support your team by communicating clearly, offering help, and praying together. Your primary responsibility is to steward your people, your equipment, and the environment. We aren’t the authors of the environment, but we are stewards of the way it gets made from a technological standpoint. The Lead and Campus Pastors determine the environment; we steward that vision so ministry comes alive.
Your role is vital.
Whether behind the soundboard, operating ProPresenter, or on the camera, your role is vital to equipping the willing to come fully alive. You play a crucial role in facilitating connection, community, and God’s presence.
Prepared, ready, and willing.
The mandate on every member of this team: that we would come prepared, ready, and willing. Not just prepared with awareness of the service and its moving parts, but prepared with a heart ready to see God move. Like the priests of the Old Testament, we cannot and should not ever flippantly step into the presence of God without first examining ourselves.
We support in a way that sometimes feels invisible.
“I Tertius, who wrote this letter, greet you in the Lord.”Romans 16:22
The Production team is special because we support every single other ministry in some way. We are like the scribes and armor-bearers of the Bible.
We are like Tertius. We display the lyrics and videos, and dial in the audio. Even though everyone experiences our work, we are meant to not be noticed. Paul is widely recognized as the author of Romans, but Tertius was with him every step of the way, in a supporting role that made it possible for myriads of people to read the words God gave Paul in his ministry.
“Acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you…”1 Chronicles 28:9
